Fine lines and other signs of aging are often particularly visible around the eyes.

Tired eyes, swelling and under-eye bags make the face look older and more fatigued. With age, the lid-cheek transition zone often lengthens, making the lower eyelids appear tired. In many cases, lower eyelid surgery alone is not sufficient. Often, a combination with a facelift is necessary to achieve a holistic, fresh outcome and to avoid complications such as a drooping lower eyelid (ectropion).

Causes and Treatment

As we age, tissue loses elasticity and sags, fat deposits become more prominent, and volume is lost. Modern lower eyelid surgery targets exactly these issues: it reduces excess fat pads, balances lost volume using autologous fat, and tightens the skin—if needed, also using laser treatment.

Methods of lower eyelid surgery:

Transconjunctival method: Minimally invasive via the inside of the lower eyelid, ideal for removing under-eye bags without visible scars.

Transcutaneous method: Through an incision below the lash line, skin, muscle, and fat are corrected. This method is more invasive and is used less frequently today.

The choice of method depends on your individual situation.

Lower Eyelid Surgery – Costs and Experiences

The costs vary depending on the method and extent. You’ll receive an exact estimate during your personal consultation. Many patients report a much fresher appearance after the procedure.
